CENOTAPH URBAN DESIGN AWARD CELEBRATION

THIS AWARD WAS GIVEN IN 2007 TO THE ATHERTON CENOTAPH MEMORIAL GROUP FOLLOWING THE RENOVATION OF THE CENOTAPH AND GARDENS IN 2007.

TERRY DALY OF THE THE BRIDGERS COMMUNITY GROUP PRESENTED A REPLICA TROPHY AND CERTIFICATE TO THE " ATHERTON CENOTAPH MEMORIAL GROUP " ON SATURDAY JANUARY 22ND 2022 AT THE SERVICE OF RE-DEDICATION OF THE CENOTAPH TO CELEBRATE THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST DEDICATION AND OPENING ON JANUARY 22ND 1922.

It was an honour to be invited to the centenary and rededication service of the Atherton Cenotaph. Thankyou to Rev Reg Sinclair and Rev Tracey Marshall for leading the service and rededication, Radcliffe brass band for the accompanying music, Mr Rowland Lawton for playing the Last Post.

A special thankyou to Mrs Lorraine McCaffrey who laid the centenary wreath, kindly donated by Lillies florist. It was 100 years ago when Lorraines grandfather unveiled the Cenotaph IN 1922

Finally Peter Powell for coordinating the overall event.
