BRIDGERS 2022 / 2023 SUMMARY

Updated: Jul 23, 2023

2023 SUMMERTIME

There are still only five members in our group although we have appealed for more volunteers on several occasions, but, the year is going very well, we have been AWARDED ANOTHER GREEN FLAG for Colliers Corner. this is the fourteenth consecutive year we have been given this very pretigious award and we are VERY PROUD AND DELIGHTED.

Judging has taken place in the North West In Bloom Awards and we felt very positive about the outcome, COLLIERS CORNER looked amazing and we gat many excellent comments for the judges.

Howe Bridge Heritage Trail is now complete and we have started to fix the plaques at the various sites around the village, although this may take a while to comp-lete.

Our new Horse sculpture will soon be ready and this will be put in place as soon as we can, once again we have approached Wigan Council about floodlighting the Mining display and contact has been quite positive, but, it is Wigan Council and bureaucracy within Wigan Council can be painfully slow and difficult to work with.

Several new additions and improvements on the corner, extra trees including the Multi Stemmed Rowan tree that the Briidgers were presented with from Queen Elizabeth`s Green Canopy that was created to celebrate our late Queen`s Platinum Jubillee in 2022.

A second Chillean Pine { Monkey Puzzle Tree }

Another Pine tree,

A Display of all of the trees on the Corner on the reverse side of our Community Notice Board,

Our floral displays have been filled with Perennial Plants for sustainability and lasting colour.

The Wild No-mow areas are beginning to show wild flowers and looks incredible,

THE BRIDGERS IN 2022 { A SHORT SUMMARY }

This was probably one of the most successful years we have ever had, many improvements, innovations, changes and awards, our small team of volunteers have been AMAZING, but,

there are still many aspects of what we do that that can be improved, and, there are a couple of outstanding projects that are out of our controll that need to be completed.

DEMENTIA BUDDY SOCIAL GROUP

The group was badly affected during the Pandemic years but there are signs that it is now improving and getting back to pre-covid standard, we regularly have a full house at our luncheon clubs and the coffee mornings are improving.

At present our coffee mornings are held on the first Monday on the Month { Bank Holiday affected } and our Luncheon clubs are on the third Friday in the month, but, these days / dates could be changed, the reason for possible changes is, Karen Aldred has now taken over complete control of the Dementia Social Group and days / dates will depend on Karen`s availability.

Everyone is welcome to join us at both events for Tea / Coffee, Home Made Cake, Quiz, Bingo, Excellent company etc, the coffee morning is FREE but there is a small charge of £5.00 per person for the luncheon club, for this you will get a Two Course Lunch and Enertainment etc.

For further information, please contact Karen direct on 07562 399647

UNFORTUNATELY there will be a few regular attendees missing at our future events because of deteriorting health problems, they will be very sadly missed, but, our prayers and best wishes are with ALL of them.

MEMORIES TEA ROOM

Starting to reach its potential, this is an excellent facility with the most AMAZING PEOPLE running and working in the tea room.

Memories Tea Room deserves all the success and accolades it gets.

IT IS A TRULY AMAZING PLACE TO VISIT.

From everyone involved in what we do we hope that 2023 brings you Health, Wealth & Happiness
