ST MICHAEL`S PRIMARY SCHOOL

ST MICHAEL`S PRIMARY SCHOOL was built by the Fletcher Burrows company at the same time as the Village, Church & Village Club so that the children could get a good standard of education as well as living in good  quality housing, it was the policy of the company that all of their employees were looked after and had very good welfare facilities alongside very good working conditions.

The school is very much a “ Community “ school and is very closely involved with ALL other aspects of life in Howe Bridge, especially with St Michael`s church and the Bridgers Community Group

In 2011, the Bridgers did a re-enactment of the “ Battle of Howe Bridge “ { this is commemorated by the Howe Bridge Shield } and St Michael`s school was at the forefront of the project along with other primary school in the Atherton district.

The school choir is also one of the major groups that are involved with St Michael`s church on ALL religious events that are held in the church, the choir is AMAZING !!

AMAZING GENEROSITY FROM THE SCHOOL, PUPILS & PARENTS

Thank you to all of our wonderful families in school who helped to raise a fantastic £297.70 for Derian House Children's Hospice by purchasing the little festive plush decorations.

This money will make a huge difference.

The school playground is used for lots of the Fundraising activities that are held for the school and other groups in the village, and, some of the equipment used is provided by the Bridgers, especially Marquees etc, The Bridgers also help on the fundraising days, in March 2022, the school held a “ Non Uniform Day “ to raise funds to help to buy a replacement Horse Sculpture for Colliers Corner in the village and raised a magnificent £220.00.
